Northern Kentucky Norse – George Clooney

Batman and the emergency room, these two things normally do not go together. Unless you are an extremely talented actor like George Clooney (attended 1979-1981). The heartthrob is a very popular actor and he has starred in some hits in Hollywood. He was one of the leads in the Ocean’s series, he played Batman and starred in the TV series ER. The TV series was his breakthrough into TV and movies. He majored in broadcast journalism while at Northern Kentucky.

New Mexico State Aggies – Paul Wilbur Klipsch

Surround sound is how entertainment is meant to be heard. Paul Wilbur Klipsch (Class of ’26) is responsible for taking high fidelity audio to the next level. He created the Horn Loudspeaker and the Klipschorn. Klipsch Audio Technologies is a company that creates home audio equipment. The engineer changed the way we hear sound.

Old Dominion Monarchs – Justin Verlander

Baseball is a simple game, or so they tell you. The pitcher throws the ball and the batter hits it. If the pitcher is Justin Verlander (attended 2002-2004), not many batters are going to hit it. The pitcher is in the middle of a Hall of Fame career and he is one of if not the best right-handed pitcher in baseball. Verlander has an MVP, a Cy Young and two no-hitters to his name. The right-hander has also led the MLB in strikeouts five times.

Ohio State Buckeyes – Jesse Owens

It is hard to imagine what it would feel like to win an Olympic Medal, much less multiple. Jesse Owens (attended 1935-1936) went to the Berlin Olympics and raced in front of Hitler and other Nazi soldiers. The track and field star was told not to go for his safety, but he competed anyway and won four gold medals, placing his name in history as the greatest track athlete of all time.
