5. Kentucky-Wofford, Midwest Region, Round of 32

It takes a lot for a second-round matchup to rate as must-see TV, but the idea of watching Kentucky and Wofford facing off is absolutely salivating. Everyone knows how good Kentucky is. The Wildcats are perennial title threats under the stewardship of head coach John Calipari.

These Wildcats have a balanced roster with plenty of inside scoring and perimeter shooting, with grad transfer Reid Travis providing some experience for the younger Kentucky players to lean on. That will make Kentucky a dangerous out, and it would make their matchup with Wofford particularly fascinating.

The Terriers may not be a national name at this point, but they are a very good basketball team, ending the regular season on a 20-game winning streak and entering the national polls in late February. Wofford can also knock down a ton of 3s, ranking second in the country in 3-point field goal percentage, so they are capable of putting up points in bunches.

This matchup could be reminiscent of another Kentucky classic from recent years when they upset unbeaten Wichita State as an 8-seed on their way to the Final Four. Wofford would get a shot to slay one of the sports’ dragons in this game and it would be extremely compelling theater.
