It’s time to start making those travel plans because the 2019 NCAA Women’s National Championship will be here before you know it.
March Madness is upon us and now that the bracket has been set it’s time to start thinking about traveling to the biggest game of all: the 2019 NCAA Women’s National Championship. If you’re thinking about making the trek, start packing the sunscreen.
The 2019 NCAA Women’s National Championship will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The Women’s Final Four games take place on April 5 and the National Championship is on Sunday, April 7.
Now that the bracket has been released, some familiar teams find themselves at the top of their respective regions. Baylor is the top seed of the Greensboro Region, Mississippi State is the No. 1 seed in the Portland Region, overall top-seeded Notre Dame is at the top of the Chicago bracket and Louisville is the No. 1 seed of the Albany Region.
Each region has its stories. No. 2 UConn will be looking to get to the Final Four, which means they have to make their way through a very crowded Albany Region. The Chicago Region has No. 2 Stanford eyeing the path to the Elite Eight and beyond. This year’s bracket is full of teams that have the ability to make it deep into the postseason and it will be fun to see who ends up at the Final Four.
First Round action begins on Friday, March 22, followed by the Second Round on Sunday, March 24. Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games take place the following weekend at the regional game sites March 29 through April 1.
Looking ahead, the 2020 Women’s Final Four and National Championship will take place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 3 and 5, 2020. The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will host the 2021 events on April 2 and 4, 2021, and in 2022 the Road to the Women’s Final Four will lead to the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on April 1 and 3, 2022.
