NFL Draft 2019: Los Angeles Chargers full NFL mock draft
By Joe Romano
The Los Angeles Chargers consistently fall short in the playoffs. They can use a strong showing in the 2019 NFL Draft to try and get over the hump.
Once again, despite looking like one of the better overall rosters in the NFL the Los Angeles Chargers failed to reach the AFC Championship game. Quarterback Phillip Rivers, surrounded by an arsenal of weapons, could not get past the Patriots. New England has been a thorn in the side of Chargers fans for years and it continued in 2018. Now they can look towards the 2019 NFL Draft to get them past New England next year.
This offseason has been relatively quiet for the Chargers. They lost a big play threat in receiver Tyrell Williams to their AFC West rivals the Oakland Raiders. Cornerback Jason Verrett drove up the PCH to join the San Francisco 49ers. Both players were contributors when healthy but Williams hurts most in terms of losses.
Coming to join the Chargers are only a small selection of players. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor was a smart signing and gives them a capable back-up should Rivers go down. Retaining linebacker Denzel Perryman was the right move. He will be joined by former Panthers’ linebacker Thomas Davis. He may be aging but Davis is still a good option for a team that had very little production from the position a year ago.
Los Angeles has some holes to fill on their roster. Overall, this is as talented a collection of talent as any team in the league. In order to keep pace with the Chiefs in the AFC West, the Chargers need to keep accumulating that talent.
