Dallas Cowboys full 2019 NFL mock draft
Round 5: Mike Edwards
It’s very possible the Cowboys are going to sign a new starting safety in free agency, but they’ll need more depth via the draft in any event. Signing a really versatile defensive back like Edwards could help Jason Garrett’s defense in multiple ways.
Some scouts believe Edwards is destined to end up in the slot, but his competitiveness gives him a chance to thrive in cover-2 defenses. Either way, he’s good enough to take this late in the draft for the Cowboys.
Round 6: Jazz Ferguson
The 6-foot-5 wide receiver washed out at LSU but managed to rebound at nearby Northwestern State. He could provide the Cowboys with an interesting project to work with on the outside. He’s not a guy who will play right away, but he could develop into a solid contributor in time.
Round 7: Gardner Minshew
Minshew isn’t going to challenge Dak Prescott for a starting position during his career, but his mental acumen gives him a chance to become a solid backup. That’s something the Cowboys don’t really have at the moment. Dallas could take a bigger chance here, but Minshew is an intriguing quarterback to take a flyer on.
