Being the Elite recap for March 25, 2019: Nakazawa
By Matt Black
A weekly recap of the hit YouTube series Being the Elite, starring the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Cody and others.
Being the Elite opens up this week with the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, discussing the successful C2E2 Panel that just concluded in Chicago. They are joined by Kenny Omega, who is eating organic salmon. Omega asks the Bucks how Mexico was, they said it was wonderful but Omega feels like something was a bit weird.
The weirdness is the fact that Cody got beaten down pretty badly; Omega asks the Bucks if they were too busy to help. They say they were saving their presence as a big surprise to get a big pop, since they hadn’t been shown to the live crowd yet. Omega wonders if “big pop” was the thing to call it, adding that they definitely had the crowd going mild and sarcastically says the crowd loved the Bucks in Mexico, which left the brothers with less than pleased looks on their faces.
After the cool eight-bit opening that was introduced a few weeks ago, the Bucks are back showing off their LJN figures and tease that a variant of the pack is already coming. We then get a montage of them signing their LJN two-packs and an autograph session with their fans.
We then cut to the hotel where Omega and Nick are talking about how fun C2E2 has been. Omega mentions it was his first Comic Con and that it was cool to experience everything that it had to offer. They are then interrupted by Matt who is hearing nothing but the name Michael Nakazawa over and over again. Matt starts freaking out and tells Nick and Omega to stay away from him as he backs up and stumbles over onto the hotel room floor.
They end up helping Matt to his feet and he hears their words normally at first, but then everything turns into “Nakazawa” again, to the point where both of them are wearing his t-shirt. Matt heads to the bathroom to throw water on his face but when he looks up he’s wearing the shirt too. He’s then startled out of the dream and wakes up in his chair in the hotel room. It was all just a dream … or was it?
They have a quick montage of the Librarian search AEW is conducting via social media which leads to Joey Ryan trying out for the part. Before he finishes, Hornswoggle interrupts looking for him. Ryan says “he went that way” and realizes the glasses hid his identity much like Clark Kent for Superman, but Hornswoggle returns and finds him. It seems that Hornswoggle is about to attack Ryan, but they cut away.
We move onto Christopher Daniels in bed celebrating his birthday. He has a card from his wife on the nightstand next to him which he truly appreciates, but as he gets up and looks in the mirror he freaks out wondering if this is what 49 years old looks like. He decides he is going to join Adam Page in the Full Gear Challenge to get ready for Double or Nothing.
Next, we go to MJF at a random indie show being rude to the wrestlers backstage. But one of them tells him that Cody is at the show and MJF freaks out, grabs his stuff and takes off. They then reveal that Cody was never really there and that it was a way to mess with MJF. They cut to Cody saying that he has to do something about MJF and that it’s personal. He looks down at a Nightmare Family jacket with MJF’s name on it and balls it up and throws it with tears in his eyes. Even though Cody’s opponent has been teased in another direction in recent weeks, it seems more likely that he will be facing MJF this May at Double or Nothing.
They return back to the hotel to end the episode as Nick and Omega are trying to convince Matt to take part in this year’s CEO Gaming event in June. Matt is dead set against it and says absolutely not. They are less than pleased as Matt tells them both to leave his hotel room. Alex Jebailey from CEO calls Matt later on in the evening to try and change his mind. At first, Matt wants nothing to do with it, but Jebailey reveals to Matt that he has an issue with Nakazawa, as well.
This interests Matt greatly and wants to know what he’s willing to do to Nakazawa, such as making him bleed and ending his career. Jebailey definitely seems up to the task. Matt says he’s starting to get into this whole CEO thing and proposes a hardcore match between the two. Jebailey says if that’s what it takes to seal the deal, he’s in. The show ends this week with a poster promo advertising the match for CEO Saturday, June 29 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
That was it for Being the Elite this week. With most of them being at C2E2 all weekend it was a bit disappointing we didn’t get any appearances from Marty Scurll or CM Punk, who were both in attendance, but who knows what was filmed for a future episode.
