2. Rashan Gary

Most NFL executives believe that Rashan Gary should move outside as he transitions to professional football, but the Michigan coaching staff kept him inside for a reason. If the Jaguars believe he can hold up against the run game in the middle they could pounce for him at No. 7.

It’s also possible the Jaguars coaching staff could use Gary as an extra defensive end on conventional downs and then slide him inside as their primary pass-rusher on obvious passing downs. That might seem like a bit of a niche selection, but given how often the Jacksonville defense finds itself in nickel defense it would give Gary a ton of snaps.

Gary also showcases the kind of attitude that Jacksonville likes to see in their defenders. He’s got a healthy amount of swagger to his game. For a team that wants to hang its hat on dominating the line of scrimmage, that could turn out to be a big positive.

This doesn’t represent the sexiest pick that could materialize for the Jaguars, but Gary would give their defensive front a healthy infusion of talent and versatility. He’d be a good, but not great selection for Jacksonville.
