The Georgia Bulldogs kept things rolling this week. After getting an impressive sweep to start the conference season against South Carolina, Georgia followed it up with an equally impressive series victory over the LSU Tigers. The Bulldogs are off to a red hot start due in large part to their pitching. Georgia ranks among the top three to five in almost every major statistical pitching category.

And just because Georgia pitches really well doesn’t mean they can’t hit. The Bulldogs are close to the top in each hitting category as well. When the Bulldogs take on the Commodores later this year, it could determine the winner of the SEC East and will play a significant role in determining who the overall SEC Champion will be.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs spent most of the non-conference portion of their schedule proving they could beat you with their pitching. This past weekend, the Bulldogs showed they can beat other SEC baseball teams with their bats as well.

The Bulldogs tore up one of the best pitching teams in the SEC this past weekend by putting up 40 runs in three games against the Auburn Tigers. There’s not a better hitting team in the SEC currently than the Bulldogs, and Mississippi State has scored 23 more runs than the team that ranks second in runs scored. The Bulldogs have proven to be the best team in the SEC so far, but they might have a more difficult challenge winning the overall SEC Championship. Playing in the West will likely give the Bulldogs a few more losses than either Vanderbilt or Georgia in the East.
