Round 3 – No pick

This was the pick that the Eagles traded for Golden Tate

Round 4 – Pick 127

Tyler Roemer, T, San Diego State

Jason Peters and Lane Johnson are a pair of elite tackles that book end the Eagles offensive line. Peters is aging, and will be 37 on opening day. Philadelphia has prepared for life after him for a while, including developing Halapoulivaati Vaitai to be a functional swing tackle. A long term answer should still be found.

Tyler Roemer of San Diego State has the traits to be that player. Off the field issues forced his hand into declaring for the draft early. A good athlete and massive man, Roemer has issues on film but most of them are teachable. If he proves to be coachable, this is a steal type of pick. Roemer provides fantastic power in his hands and nimble feet in pass protection. The Eagles can develop him and be a replacement for Peters in time.

Round 4 – Pick 138

Isaiah Buggs, DT, Alabama

Depth on the defensive line has been the Eagles calling card as of late. The boast the best defensive line rotation in the NFL. In the middle that is held down by Malik Jackosn and Fletcher Cox currently. Behind them are two young inexperienced player due to Haloti Ngata retiring and Tim Jernigan remaining unsigned.

Isaiah Buggs of Alabama is a interesting prospect that can add to the rotation. Buggs is clearly talented and flashes potential of a top-50 pick at times. Unfortunately his motor runs on and off which causes huge lapses in his play where he looks unplayable. His highs are extremely high but his lows are very low. At his best he’s a pocket pusher and disruptive force in the middle. Maybe working with a talented defensive line group will do wonders for him, although that wasn’t the case at Alabama. Buggs is a boom-or-bust prospect worthy of the risk at this spot in the draft.
