The Sweet 16 of the 2019 NCAA Tournament tips off on Thursday, March 28 with four great matchups, and you can keep track of them all right here.
Following 48 games of NCAA Tournament action in the first weekend of March Madness, the Sweet 16 is upon college basketball fans, tipping off with four games on Thursday, March 28. And though things have gone mostly chalk through the First and Second Rounds of the tournament, we know that the tourney can start to get off the rails this time of year.
Thursday’s Sweet 16 action will begin with the No. 4 Florida State Seminoles taking on the No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs at 7:09 p.m. ET on CBS. Through the first two games of March Madness, Rui Hachimura, Brandon Clarke and the Zags have been one of the most impressive teams in the tournament, but Leonard Hamilton’s FSU team has been right there with them.
Following that game will be a matchup between the 3-seed Purdue Boilermakers and 2-seed Tennessee Volunteers (7:29 p.m. ET on TBS). In the Second Round, Carsen Edwards went off for 42 points to lead Purdue to a win, but they’re an up and down team. Meanwhile, Tennessee looked dominant early, but blew a 25-point lead and needed overtime to win.
Starting the late slate of the NCAA Tournament matchups on Thursday will be the 3-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders and No. 2 Michigan Wolverines on CBS at 9:39 p.m. ET. These are two of the best defensive teams in the country and both have barely broken a sweat to get to this point, so this should be a fun one to watch.
Finally, the night will be capped off with the lone Cinderella, the No. 12 seed Oregon Ducks, take on the 1-seeded Virginia Cavaliers (9:57 p.m. ET on TBS). Oregon might be the hottest team entering the Sweet 16, but Virginia has been the better team all season. Whichever one wins out will be intriguing.

Despite the fact that the 2019 NCAA Tournament has been all chalk leading to the Sweet 16, things could go off-script from here. Can a 12-seed top a 1-seed? Will either of the No. 3 seeds be able to move on? It should be a fun ride to find the answer to these questions and more on Thursday night.
