Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers actually lost to their AAA affiliate during Spring Training, and while those games do not count, that is never a good sign as to what the regular season will bring. Texas has some solid pieces in their lineup, and should have no problems scoring runs, but can they get enough pitching to be a threat in a very deep AL West.

Last season, Texas finished with only 67 wins, and came oh so close to hitting that dreaded 100-loss mark. This team should exceed the win total from a year ago, but they are going to have to stay healthy, and hope that guys like Mike Minor, Edison Volquez, and Lance Lynn have what it takes to lead a rotation deep into a season. In addition, Chris Woodward takes over in his first stint as a Major League manager.

Best case scenario

Getting to the .500 mark has to be the best case scenario for the Rangers, who just do not have enough pitching to stay competitive in a very good AL West this season. The Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, and Seattle Mariners dominated the division in 2018, and they all should be right back in the mix in 2019. If the Rangers can get to 81 wins, consider it a job well done.

Worst case scenario

That dreaded 100-loss mark was within their grasp last season, and based on what we have seen from this team in the spring, they could actually end the 2019 season with triple-digit losses. That would be an incredibly disappointing thing for this franchise, who has not made the playoffs since winning back-to-back AL West titles back in 2016 and 2015.
