Best and worst case scenario for every MLB team in 2019
By Brad Weiss
Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies head into the 2019 season with some unfinished business, after finally winning a one-game playoff last year against the Cubs. This offseason, they made sure to lock down their No. 1 asset, agreeing on an extension with third baseman Nolan Arenado, who is one of the best overall players in the game today.
Since coming into the league, and playing in that Mile High weather, the Rockies have struggled to get pitching on a consistent basis. While their bats certainly get the job done each season, the arms never can make it happen for a complete 162-game season, and that has cost them the division in each of the last two campaigns.
Best case scenario
Colorado has made it to the playoffs as Wild Card in consecutive years, and that has been a testament to the roster built around manager Bud Black. In 2019, the team has to be eyeing an NL West title, as they have the talent to do that, but will need their pitching staff to hold up. If they get into a series, they have the bats to do some serious damage.
Worst case scenario
The Rockies have made it to the postseason in each of the last two seasons, but it is time for this team to finally do some winning in the playoffs. The worst case scenario for them will be taking a step backwards, failing to even make it in as a Wild Card team, and having to go back to the drawing board next offseason.
