Best and worst case scenario for every MLB team in 2019
By Brad Weiss
Los Angeles Dodgers
Rich Hill will toe the rubber in the Dodgers’ season opener, as Clayton Kershaw is still dealing with a sore left shoulder. In fact, Kershaw may not be back in the rotation until later this month, so the team will have to tread water until their ace returns.
This Dodgers team won 92 games last season, edging out the Colorado Rockies by one game to win the National League West. In the playoffs, they once again made it to the World Series, but were run over by the Boston Red Sox. Los Angeles added a stellar outfielder in A.J. Pollock this offseason, and he will replace the departed Yasiel Puig.
Best case scenario
The Dodgers get back to the mountaintop, winning the National League pennant for a third straight season, and heading to the Fall Classic. Only this time, the Dodgers actually win the big one, bringing the organization their first World Series championship since 1988, getting the monkey off their backs.
Worst case scenario
Kershaw continues to struggle with his health, and the rest of the rotation does not pick up the slack. This Dodgers team has the talent to represent the National League in the World Series once again this upcoming season, but it will all hinge on whether or not Kershaw can stay healthy enough to make at least 25 starts in 2019.
