WWE announces WrestleMania Axxess Worlds Collide events, to air on WWE Network
The WWE announced that WrestleMania Axxess will host multiple “Worlds Collide” live events featuring Superstars from all five major brands.
As we all know, there’s more to WrestleMania than just the event itself. There’s also NXT Takeover: New York, scheduled for April 5 and the WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 6. And surrounding all of it is WrestleMania Axxess, a four-day event at Brooklyn’s Pier 12 that allows fans to get up close and personal with WWE and NXT Superstars, watch exclusive live matches and more.
And this year’s Axxess will be featuring a quintet of “Worlds Collide” branded live events that, according to WWE’s official announcement, will feature Superstars from NXT, NXT UK, Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live and 205 Live in “unique, never-before-seen” matchups.
Here are the dates, times and details, straight from WWE.com:
"NXT vs. NXT AlumniThursday, April 4 (6-10 p.m.)The past meets the present as former NXT Superstars battle current Superstars from the black-and-gold brand. Both Battle Royals will feature Superstars from NXT and NXT UK, and the Men’s Battle Royal will additionally feature Superstars from 205 Live.Women CollideMonday, April 8 (12-4 p.m.)One day after female Superstars main-event WrestleMania for the first time in history, the WWE Women’s Evolution continues to take center stage at Axxess. Watch top female Superstars from NXT, NXT UK, Raw and SmackDown LIVE collide, with matches including Io Shirai vs. Sonya Deville, Toni Storm vs. Nikki Cross vs. Bianca Belair, Piper Niven vs. Zelina Vega, Candice LeRae vs. Kay Lee Ray and more!"
All of the events are compelling in their own ways, but none may be more fun overall than the “Women Collide” show on the Monday after WrestleMania, given the unique matchups. The 20-Superstar battle royals should also be a source of entertaining action and the three NXT UK tapings taking place on U.S. soil should ultimately draw more stateside eyes to the product on the WWE Network.
These events will all wind up on the Network, though there is no information on when that may happen. WrestleMania Axxess takes place from Thursday, April 4 through Monday, April 8.
