2. Shayna Baszler wants everyone’s respect

With the Boss and Hug Connection recently appearing in NXT, it’s clear that the women’s tag team division on the black and yellow brand is going to become more important going forward. Tonight we had a matchup pitting Vanessa Borne and Aliyah against Lacey Lane and Kacy Catanzano, who are both making their NXT TV debuts after wrestling in the Mae Young Classic earlier this year.

The match was fine for what it was but it only lasted a few minutes before NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler came to the ring with Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Borne and Aliyah want no part of the trio and quickly exit the ring and head up the ramp.

Baszler proceeds to get into the ring and drive her knee into Lane’s head kicking her out of the ring. She tries to choke out Catanzano who gets out away and hits a couple of hope spots before eventually getting choked out for her troubles.

Baszler, Duke and Shafir leave Catanzano and Lane laying at ringside as they head back up the ramp, and Baszler stops at the commentary table to tell them that this will keep happening as long as she keeps getting mistreated while she’s the champion. She stands atop the table and yells at everyone to respect her.

Baszler is clearly trying to send a message to her opponents ahead of NXT Takeover, where the odds certainly aren’t in the champion’s favor to retain the title.
