WWE NXT UK recap for March 27, 2019: Fighting logistics unleashed
By Jeremy Klein
5. And the rest
Joe Coffey is having a think, and flips his camera over to selfie mode to let us know his thoughts on Trent Seven. He calls him dead weight and a joker. Only — surprise — the time for joking is over, and Coffey isn’t laughing anymore. During the episode, Seven gets his change to respond. He’s proud of everything his son Tyler Bate has been able to do without him, but he’s quite miffed that Coffey referred to him as “dead weight.” Next week, they’ll have to fight over their feelings — that’s how it works.
Kassius Ohno is back yet again to belittle all the “fake” British wrestlers on the NXT UK brand. After feigning remorse for his knocking out, waking up and knocking out again of Ashton Smith, Ohno is back on his high horse. He bashes Travis Banks in particular, clearly upset that a wrestler from New Zealand is daring to act like they have a claim to being a “British” wrestler (it’s worth noting at this point that Ohno is from Ohio). Hard not to see these two going at it in the near future.
Someone who is definitely British — as he has what is one of the most British-sounding names of all-time — is Dave Mastiff. A vignette airs for his imminent return, and it’s essentially a demonstration of how positively strong Mastiff is. Witness him doing strong guy things like lifting lots of weights, pulling a car behind him, and suplexing Eddie Dennis!
Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel watch last week’s montage of Amir Jordan doing a pull-up to impress his tag team partner Kenny Williams and are — how do we put this mildly — very angry about it. Like they are the definition of being mad online. Other wrestlers having some fun, to them, is a high crime, one that deserves punishment (these guys should give Ohno a call). Looks like a matchup between the Wrestlefascists and Jordan/Williams — better fake tag team name pending — is all but set.
Let’s end with the beginning, where Jordan Devlin has a match to remind you he’s a sadistic little scamp who is very good at this wrestling thing. He beats Dan Moloney relatively easily, after hitting a headbutt, maintaining wrist control, flinging Moloney into the air and planting him with a high-angle backdrop. Will the Irish Ace be the next challenger for whoever walks out of Takeover as United Kingdom Champion?
Only one more episode to go until WrestleMania weekend and Takeover: New York. Will Pete Dunne and WALTER have one of those Beat the Clock Challenges we’ve been hearing so much about? Will Toni Storm drop her title to Charlotte Flair? Or maybe (maybe), all of us NXT UK fans will be completely satisfied with everything. Never hurts to dream.
