5 bold Premier League predictions: Mane helps Liverpool past Tottenham
It’s time for matchweek 32 of the Premier League and there are plenty of exciting games to watch. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
The Premier League is back after the international break and there are plenty of exciting games to look forward to. Manchester City look to regain top spot in the league as they travel to Fulham while Liverpool host Tottenham on Sunday in a game that has a must-win feeling about it.
Manchester United host Watford in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first game in charge after United confirmed he would take the manager’s job full-time. Chelsea will hope to keep the pressure on United and Arsenal as the Blues travel to face relegation candidates Cardiff.
The Gunners host Newcastle on Monday which will round up all the action for this weekend. Here are five bold predictions for the games.
5. Mane helps Liverpool to win over Tottenham
The Premier League title race is going to go down to the wire and this weekend Liverpool have a huge game at home to Tottenham. The Reds currently sit two clear points ahead of Manchester City but Pep Guardiola’s side have played a game less.
It’s crucial Liverpool win this one to keep the pressure on City, especially with the Light Blues facing a relatively easy match away to Fulham this weekend. Tottenham pose an extremely difficult task but Liverpool fans should fancy their side’s chances of picking up all three points.
If they are to take all three points, then Saido Mane will have to continue his great run of form. The Senegal international has been in great goalscoring form and has really picked up his side in recent weeks when Mohamed Salah has been struggling to find the net.
There’s a good chance Mane will score again this weekend even though Spurs have only conceded 19 goals in their 16 away games this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are very unpredictable as some games they look unplayable and others they look out of ideas.
For the sake of the title race it would definitely be more exciting if Liverpool can win this one. Jurgen Klopp made sure the fans were riled up for their match against Burnley and he’ll need the same kind of atmosphere for his side to be triumphant again on Sunday.
Liverpool haven’t conceded much this season but their defense has looked slightly less reliable of late — losing sloppy goals to the likes of Fulham and Burnley in their past two league matches.
Those mistakes haven’t affected them but better sides, like Spurs, will also take those opportunities and then become harder to break down defensively. However, draws are not good results for Liverpool now so they’ll have to go after three points every weekend.
