Good day and greetings from us here at MLB bets handicapping central.  Saturday offers some good continuing plays so let’s jump right into the action.

Opening day was a good one for MLB bets as you know.  Using every game as 1 unit and adjusting for lay and take, MLB bets was up  +5.45  units on the day.  That Seattle win was a great way to cap it off, but that is now in the past – let’s see if we can post another winner today.  All times Eastern.

Kansas City  (-1.20)  nips Chicago, 2:15 pm
The Royals qualify as the better overall team having a much better spring training with the best percentage of wins on their home field than any other team.  The White Sox were not terrible but were below 500.

Today, Junis goes for KC and has pitched a little better than his opponent Lopez.  The pitching edge and the team play in spring training should be enough reason to give the Royals another try.  They won for us on opening day, have the better overall talent, play at home which is significant to them, and hopefully will notch another win.

Detroit and Toronto play UNDER 4 1/2 in the 1st 5 innings (-1.10), 3:07 pm
Toronto and Detroit have had quiet bats so far this season.  MLB bets certainly does not expect this downward under achievement to last for long, but as for now, here today, the value play is the under.

Looking at spring training, Tiger pitcher Spencer Turnbull performed very well, posting an era of under 2 – and so did Blue Jay pitcher Sanchez, hurling an impressive 17 innings at a 1.53 era clip.  Since early in the season starting pitchers are yanked fairly early, MLB bets would like to play the under early, in the 1st 5 innings.

MLB Bets To Win – Cubs overwhelm Rangers

Chicago  (-1.40)  belts Texas, 8:05 pm
Yu Darvish returns to Texas but this time pitching for the Cubs as Texas pitcher Volquez returns to where he started his major league career in 2005.  Volquez can be great (he pitched a no-hitter last year) and he can be terrible (he was 0-7 in his first 9 starts last year).

More from FanSided

Darvish is the more consistent, better pitcher and the Cubs have the better team overall.  Texas will find the going difficult without their leader Beltre and must find a way to get team confidence again before having a chance to string together some wins.

The Cubs are not the team to build against.  After their ouster last year in the playoffs, they are on a mission to win the world series and take every game very seriously.  Chicago was able to beat the Rangers by double digits even after falling behind 2-0 on opening day.  I expect a more modest win today but MLB bets sees this minor juice lay as being too low.  Cubs win, Cubs win!

Colorado and Miami play UNDER 4  (-1.10)  in the 1st 5 innings, 6:10 pm
Miami is having a very difficult time scoring at all but will be sending out to the mound who MLB bets believes is their best pitcher, Pablo Lopez.  Lopez had a great spring training, completing 20 innings giving up 2 earned runs with 16 strikeouts.

While the Rockies starter Anderson was not nearly as good, the quiet bats of Miami should help him get on track while Lopez shuts down Colorado early.  MLB bets likes the under here early so we don’t have to worry about pitch counts and starting pitchers being yanked.

San Diego  (-1.26)  takes 3 in a row from San Francisco, 8:40 pm
No reason to let up on San Diego as they finished spring training strong and now have won their first 2 games of the regular season.  The willingness to sign a big contract with Machado has energized the city and the team into believing management wants to turn the corner and is willing to do what it takes to field a winner.

Let’s continue to ride this hot team at home.  So far, so good
