Here are some pitchers you should consider using if you’re looking to build a lineup and win some money for the late DraftKings slate.

The first Saturday of the 2019 MLB season kicks off at 1 pm EST. As the early afternoon games are wrapping up, you have a couple of hours to prepare for the last DraftKings slate of games. With six games taking place, you have 12 starting pitchers to choose from. Which ones should you build your lineup around?

The six games in this slate are STL/MIL, CHC/TEX, SF/SD, LAA/OAK, ARI/LAD and BOS/SEA. Obviously, it’s a lot of West Coast teams but there is talent to be found on the pitcher’s mound. You just have to find the right price and matchup for the pitcher.

These pitchers are making their first start of the season so it’s tough to build a proper scouting report. You can use last year’s numbers as a guideline but there may be changes that took place which could have helped or hurt that pitcher.

For example, a pitcher learning a new pitch, changing their throwing motion or joining a different team.

The most expensive pitcher in this slate is Kenta Maeda, priced at $10,100. That’s just over 20 percent of your $50,000 budget DraftKings gives you. At home against the Diamondbacks is a good combination.

Pitching for Arizona is Zack Godley. With the way the Dodgers have been hitting so far, I would probably stay away from Godley. Though, his $8,300 price tag is enticing.

The one pitcher I would not be afraid to use is Cubs starter Yu Darvish. He will only cost you $8,800. While Globe Life Park favors hitters, I believe the homecoming will motivate Darvish.

The Rangers top of the lineup is pretty solid but is strikeout prone, favoring DraftKings scoring with two points for each K. The Rangers have Edinson Volquez taking the mound. I don’t see him lasting long in this game.

If you are looking for a bargain, Padres rookie Nick Margevicius takes the mound against the Giants. He’s priced at just $4,800. Never pitching above High-A, he logged a 4.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 12 innings (four starts) this spring.

The Giants offer a favorable matchup. Though we could see Margevicius go only a couple of innings as the Padres turn to their bullpen to finish the game, so there is a bit of a risk.

There aren’t many other pitchers I would want to use in this slate, whether it’s because of their skills or the team they would be pitching against. Eduardo Rodriguez and Mike Leake could have trouble in their game. The same could be said for Brandon Woodruff and Dakota Hudson. It’s a tough slate for pitching but there are some good options.
