4. Brian Burns

Burns is one of several edge rushers who expect to hear their names called somewhere between 10 and 20 in the first round. He’s more of an outside linebacker than a classic defensive end, but his ability to rush the passer is obvious to anyone who watched him play at Florida State.

Running a 4.53 40 yard dash at the Combine absolutely raised Burns’ stock. Scouts who really like his game compare him to guys like Von Miller or Dwight Freeney. There’s no guarantee he’ll put on enough quality weight to hold up on the edge against the run, but he’s got the speed to win battles against elite tackles out on the edge.

The Dolphins don’t really have enough talent in their front seven to be overly concerned about what position Burns might play. They need dynamic players in the worst way. Burns would absolutely give them some added pop up front.

It’s likely that he’ll still be available at No. 13, but it’s not impossible that another team might fall in love with him. If the Dolphins really covet Burns, they’ll face a nervous wait until they’re on the clock.
