4. They can handle the Raptors and 76ers

The Celtics would probably rather see the 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals — what with the added heat of their increasingly fiery rivalry and Al Horford’s track record of making Joel Embiid look average. However, they have to feel good about their ability to handle either of these opponents in a seven-game series.

Boston split with Toronto in the regular season and took three of four games from the 76ers. That margin might feel slim but no one in the Eastern Conference outscored Philadelphia by more points per 100 possessions this season and their Horford-Morris-Tatum-Hayward-Irving lineup had their way with Toronto, in admittedly small samples. The point is, there is no bad matchup out there lurking for Boston, no opponent lineups that act as Kryptonite. The Celtics can get through anyone in the East. Which brings us to the next challenge…
