1. Kyrie Irving is the ultimate wild card

The formula for the Celtics looked like it was going to be versatile defense, shooting depth and a load of complementary ball-handlers who could all attack a mismatch or a bent defense to keep finding open space for good shots. On nights where no one else can score, defense and Kyrie Irving can be enough to win. And on some nights, even when they can’t stop anyone, Kyrie can still be enough to win. He’s one of the league’s most electric isolation scorers and is a magician in the pick-and-roll. He makes the shots he isn’t supposed to make, the ones no one else would even have the handle to create. The Kyrie Show is definitely not the team the Celtics want to be. But it could be the Plan B that helps them survive in a big playoff game.
