4. They only have to play one team from the East

For years, the Western Conference has been better than their Eastern counterparts, and on the whole, that’s still true. The West remains deeper, with more good teams top to bottom than the East, but the East may very well have three of the four best teams in the NBA this season. The Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors all appear more likely to defeat the Warriors than any one team in the West and it is the Warriors’ good fortune that they will only have to potentially play one of those three teams. This is not to say that the Warriors would necessarily welcome a Conference Finals matchup with the Thunder, Nuggets or Rockets, but that at this current moment, no likely Western foe seem quite as threatening as the top three teams in the East.
