3. It’s the most hated thing he can do

People hate Baron Corbin. Critics chastise his promo skills (unfair), his in-ring work (unfair), his ring attire (fair) and his character’s aimlessness (fair). However, here’s a thing a lot of people are missing: We’re supposed to hate Baron Corbin. He’s loathsome by design. Why does he act the way he does? To make crowds irate. Why is he pervasive at the top of the card? Because people despise him and root for his failure. His annoyance is orchestrated and his irksomeness intentional. Corbin acts in accordance with his desired response. So, why at WrestleMania will Corbin defeat WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle? Because it’s the most hated thing he can do.

Fans may chant “you suck” at Angle, but it’s only in recognition and appreciation of all his years of work and all he’s given the business; they want to see him excel. He’s one of the most decorated Superstars in WWE history and fans want to see him as they remember him: a winner. They’d love to see him pull down his singlet straps and deliver an Angle Slam, apply his ankle lock, or drive a milk truck to the ring and douse Corbin in dairy. Unfortunately, Corbin doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about you or what you want, or Angle, or Angle’s farewell tour. Corbin just wants the fans to hate him, and after he pins Angle in the legend’s final match, they’ll do exactly that.
