The Redskins enter the draft with a lot of uncertainty at quarterback, but will Washington try to solve their issues under center in Round 1?

Colt McCoy and Case Keenum may end up battling it out in training camp for the right to become the Redskins starting quarterback, but neither of those possibilities will significantly brighten Washington’s future. The possibility of the Redskins drafting a quarterback in Round 1 is absolutely real.

That doesn’t mean it’s the only position head coach Jay Gruden would like to strengthen on his roster. Finding a No. 1 wide receiver for his quarterbacks to throw to would also be a nice addition for Washington. Neither Paul Richardson or Josh Doctson really fits that description.

The Redskins could also look to take advantage of the deep group of edge rushers in this year’s draft class. That might be where the most value resides when Washington goes on the clock with the No. 15 overall selection.

No matter what, the Redskins have to find an impact player. Here are there five guys they’re most likely to draft on Day 1.

5. Brian Burns

Burns would be an excellent addition to Washington’s 3-4 defense as an outside linebacker capable of generating a lot of pass rush. Unfortunately, the chances of him lasting this long in the draft are pretty small. If Washington really falls in love with the Florida State product they may need to move up in the draft to get him.

Ryan Kerrigan would certainly approve of this selection. He’s been suffering from constant double teams due to the lack of other pass rushers on the field with him. Burns might not dominate from Week 1, but he could take some heat off of Kerrigan as the season progresses. If Burns is on the board when Washington’s pick comes up, they shouldn’t hesitate to grab him.
