C.J. Mosley, MLB, New York Jets – 5 years, $85M, $51M guaranteed

Perhaps the worst value signing of the entire 2019 free agency period, it would seem that the Jets panicked after Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr bailed on a contract offer that he had originally agreed to sign.

Mosley is a very good player who provides leadership to a Jets defense that needed it on multiple levels. However, the price point is completely absurd when considering his all-around skill level. Mosley has questions to his game regarding pass coverage on running backs or tight ends, and his overall statistical production leaves some to be desired.

In spite of all that, his per year salary now leads all NFL inside linebackers by at least $3.5 million. While the Jets certainly had money to blow, there is virtually no way that they will ever see equal return on their investment with this contract.
