The Premier League is nearing the end of its season and this weekend there’s a shorter slate of games due to the FA Cup semifinals also taking place. Southampton kick off the weekend when they host Liverpool on Friday, while Manchester City play Brighton in Saturday’s FA Cup semi.

Burnley will look to edge away from the relegation zone when they travel to Bournemouth with Cardiff not playing this weekend. Watford and Wolves will do battle in the other FA Cup semi while West Ham round off the domestic weekend with their trip to Chelsea on Monday. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.

5. Salah ends goalscoring drought against Southampton

The Premier League weekend kicks off on Friday when title contenders Liverpool travel to face off against Southampton. The Merseysiders got a crucial late win over Spurs last weekend and will look to use that momentum to overcome Southampton.

The Saints have struggled for the majority of this season but have definitely looked better since Ralph Hassenhuttl took over. Their upturn in form, coupled with Cardiff’s strong chance of chance of relegation, should mean the team from the south coast stay up this season.

However, as every soccer fan knows, no game is a given. This means that Liverpool will have to be at their best to make sure that they keep their title hopes alive. It would certainly help if Mohamed Salah could start finding the net again.

The wonderful Egyptian forward hasn’t scored in nine games and if he could end this goalscoring drought, then Liverpool would be a much bigger threat going forward. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have picked up the goals and it’s not like Salah hasn’t contributed, but it’s clearly an area that could help the Reds.

The Egyptian came up with the definitive moment last weekend when his header resulted in Tottenham’s own goal but throughout that match his frustration was obvious. He was taking on shots that weren’t on, was indecisive with his dribbling and just generally looked short of confidence.

Against Southampton, Salah should have a very good chance of getting back on the scoresheet. The Saints have struggled defensively this season and it’s hard to see them managing Liverpool’s attack too well.

What Hasenhuttl has managed to do is make Southampton more competitive at the other of the pitch and that will most likely be their savior when it comes to remaining in the Premier League.

Southampton would easily take a point out of this game but Liverpool will score first and Saints will need to chase this game. Hassenhuttl’s side will find the back of the net but Salah will come up with the decisive goal in a 3-2 win for Liverpool.
