Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top MLB DFS Value Plays – Saturday April 6th
Daily Fantasy Baseball is in full swing, and whether you play on DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo, or Fantasy Draft, this article is designed to help you find the best value plays across the board for today’s slate. These low salary targets are my top players to help you roster your stud bats and pitchers.
Welcome to FantasyCPR! If you are a regular reader, welcome back for baseball! If you are new we are glad to have you, and we certainly hope you make us your first source of your Daily Fantasy Baseball research everyday. We will have plenty of articles every day here, and no matter where you play, we are likely to have you covered.
What separates us from others, is that we have a solid team of writers all tackling different areas to write about. This allows us to hone in our content, and you give our best plays possible, as early as possible. We are without a doubt the leader in first-look articles for DFS, so if you just found us, welcome, and I hope you come back for more.
While most of our content is site specific, whether it be for hitting or pitching, this article is going to be different. What I will do here, is evaluate potential value plays for that particular day, across the four major DFS sites.
So the plan of attack here is, first I will highlight my top value plays for Yahoo and Fantasy Draft. I will dig up certain plays that I think fit their scoring systems, and possible flaws in pricing. I will then do the same for FanDuel, and then for DraftKings.
Finally after I break down my favorites from each site specifically, I will then finish up with top overall multi-site value plays. These are the top players viable across the industry, who are in line to out produce their respective salary, no matter what the site. All of these plays are just simply the best value plays that stand out across the industry, regardless of site.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – Yahoo!
2B – Wilmer Flores – Arizona Diamondbacks – $9
A lot of folks were quick to say Flores is washed or he can’t hit lefties anymore because he had a down year last year. Here is what I know. The Diamondbacks will host the Red Sox once again, who are reeling after getting destroyed last night behind Rick Porcello and company, now David Price will be counted on to right that ship and I do not see that happening after that 14 run outburst last night.
Believe it or not, Flores is only 27-years-old, and while the power numbers were down and that is a fact, the thought that he cannot have a better season this year is absurd. So he only hit 11 homeruns and was actually better against right-handed pitching. Overall, Flores career power numbers are slightly still in favor of him still being a threat.
C – Tony Wolters – Colorado Rockies – $9
In my search for my Coors Field exposure which I am not too worried about, the most affordable option is of course at the best position to punt. Rockies catcher Tony Wolters has a semi-tough match-up with Dodgers future star Walker Buehler, but Wolters is off to a good of enough start to certainly garner consideration.
Colorado is just four games into their season, but Wolters will seem to get the bulk of the work this season behind the plate against right-handed pitching. He is off to a 4-for-13 start, good for a .308 average. If I had to pick a pivot, it would be J.R. Murphy for $7 against David Price, but I see no reason to pay over $10 at catcher today on Yahoo.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – FantasyDraft
Early Slate:
IF – Yoan Moncada – Chicago White Sox – $8,100
If you play on Fantasy Draft along with everywhere else, this looks like that weird $8K chalk play you see everyday, for today’s six-game early slate. There are so many factors in favor of Yoan Moncada tonight against Seattle veteran Mike Leake, and this is by far the cheapest you can get exposure to him anywhere.
Moncada is the second most expensive 2B on FanDuel behind only Whit Merrifield, and is almost unplayable there at $4,100. That comparison alone should scream something is wrong here. Moncada is off to a terrific start, on fire as a matter of fact. He is coming off of back-to-back multi-hit games, highlighted by a four RBI game last night. On the season, he is now hitting .458 with two bombs, and has already driven in 10 runs.
On top of the hot start and cheap price, Moncada is 1-for-3 off Leake with a homer. This was a quick lock for me.
OF – Jorge Soler – Kansas City Royals – $7,500
Another likely lock, Soler is very cheap in my opinion here as the Royals will face Matt Moore and the Tigers. He hasn’t homered yet, but he broke out of an 0-for-12 three game stretch yesterday by going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Much like Moncada, Soler seems to be priced pretty fairly everywhere else, as he sits at $3,400 on FanDuel. Moore was good in his first start, but I really like these right-handed Kansas City bats on this early slate. This low price will easily help to pair him up with Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi.
Main Slate:
IF – Christian Walker – Arizona Diamondbacks – $7,400
After a 15 run outburst last night, expect the Diamondbacks to be pretty popular tonight here. I don’t have a ton of faith in Price if you haven’t noticed, and everyone in this lineup is easily rosterable. Walker went 0-for-4 last night, but is still off to a decent start filling the large shoes of the departed Paul Goldschmidt.
Walker hit safely in his first five games to start the season, but is now hitless in his last two. To me, that only means he is more likely to be overlooked here. This kid has 30 home run potential, and is hitting .308 with three bombs in seven games thus far.
IF – Matt Chapman – Oakland Athletics – $8,100
Well Khris Davis is up to $9K so he is getting up there finally, but we have Oakland’s offense here facing crafty veteran lefty Wade Miley tonight, and this is another fantastic stack option. The theme continues on this front as well.
Chapman is $4,400 on FanDuel making him the third most expensive third baseman on the slate. This type of mispricing is always something to look for. Just like Walker above, Chapman is also hitting just over .300 to start the season, and he has also swatted three homers.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – FanDuel
Early Slate:
OF – Max Kepler – Minnesota Twins – $2,800
The Twins tried to battle back in the rain in Philly last night, as starter Jake Odorizzi couldn’t make it out of the first inning, as he gave up five runs. A two-run Kepler homer in the third started the comeback as the Twins closed the gap to two by the 5th, but ultimately went on to lose 10-4.
Veteran Jake Arrieta will be on the mound for Philly tomorrow, and although he was good in his first start, Kepler is adjusting to his new role it seems. Now the Twins lead off hitter under new manager Rocco Baldelli, Kepler is this role for the first time in his career, and after going 0 for his first eight, Kep has now hit safely in four straight games. I think we see a ton of runs again in this match-up, and if you are regular reader, you know I love me some cheap lead off guys.
2B – Brian Dozier – Washington Nationals – $2,100
Nothing but a punt and a prayer here. This is dirt cheap for a guy who at least used to have some power, but is really struggling to do anything since leaving Minnesota. He was bad enough to lose his starting job with the Dodgers, and now in Washington, he is still trying to find .
A devastating injury to Trea Turner has forced Dozier up to the top of this lineup at least for now has he has been batting in the two spot, and you have to think a match-up with Mets lefty Steven Matz gives him as good of a chance to finally connect as any. He has to realize his job is likely on the line soon and hopefully break out of his funk, but he has just two hits thus far with the Nationals.
Main Slate:
3B – Eduardo Escobar – Arizona Diamondbacks – $2,800
We have another nice six-game slate for the evening tilt, and once again I am going to be targeting David Price with another right-handed bat that hits lefties well historically. Escobar is off to a slow start this season, but he sits in a favorable spot in the lineup with a red-hot Adam Jones hitting in front of him.
Quietly amongst the 15 runs scored, Escobar had his best game of the season, but it was nothing to write home about. He went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and broke double-digit FDP for the first time this season.
OF – Clint Frazier – New York Yankees – $2,000
Frazier was forced into a starting role with Giancarlo Stanton going down, but many think he has been ready for quite some time. He will hit down in the bottom third of the lineup, but at minimum price, he can make for a nice complimentary piece of a Yankees stack with sluggers Aaron Judge and Luke Voit.
He has collected a hit in each of the last two games, but both were singles. He is just 2-for-10 total with an RBI and a walk in his three games, but if the guys in front him can get on base tonight he should have an opportunity to drive in some runs. The Orioles will have Dylan Bundy on the hill, and while there may be better spots to target overall on this slate, Yankees ownership could be down here making for a solid GPP pivot.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – DraftKings
Early Slate:
1B – Pete Alonso – New York Mets – $3,800
Alonso came really close to being on the last page today, but he just cleared the mark at $3,100 on FanDuel. New Nationals starter Patrick Corbin will already get his second crack at the Mets in just his second start with his new club, and while he was efficient tossing a quality start and striking out seven, I really like the fact that the Mets get to see him twice in back-to-back starts.
The rookie sensation and spring training darling Alonso went 2-for-3 in that first meeting with Corbin, driving in a run with a double. He continues to impress as he had another multi-hit game in the series finale with the Marlins a couple of days ago, and his currently hitting .346 with a homer and seven RBI in seven games.
C – Omar Narveaz – Seattle Mariners – $3,500
Early slate lock chalk catcher has to be Narveaz here today right? The former White Sox catcher is acclimating well to being the Mariners go-to backstop against righties, and he is tearing the cover off of the ball along with the rest of his teammates. This is as good of a price you are going to find for a catcher who is hitting above .250 who as already hit two homers, I am locking him in once again.
Main Slate:
OF – Adam Jones – Arizona Diamondbacks – $3,600
Jones is getting the superstar treatment over on FanDuel, and meanwhile over on DraftKings, is a chalk lock for cash games at just $3,600. More going at David Price with right-handed bats here, it is just odd that the pricing on this whole lineup is different across the industry.
Jones actually might be the hottest hitter in baseball behind just Cody Bellinger, as he connected with his fourth home run on the season, and a 2-for-4 game brought his early season batting average up to .389. On top of that, he has doubled in three straight games.
BvP truthers will be out in full force against this play, from Jones’ time with the Orioles and the long history that favors Price by a mile. But I will say a guy in a groove seeing the ball well trumps the largest sample size of BvP you can throw at me, and I enjoy the leverage.
C – John Ryan Murphy – Arizona Diamondbacks – $3,100
Instead of chasing points in Coors again, Murphy can save you $500 in salary, which could possibly go a very long way in your lineup. Alex Avila homered again in last nights rout, but with a lefty on the mound, it should be Murphy’s turn behind the plate.
Murphy homered in his last start at Petco Park against the Padres, and also added a couple of walks. Confirm he is in the lineup before you lock it in but this will be a fantastic cheap homer tomorrow night if he can connect. Murphy is 1-for-3 with a double in his career against Price.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – Across the Industry!
Welcome to the most important, and final page of the article. On most days, certain value plays will line up well on 2 or three, or even all of the sites covered in this article. From the looks of it, I have a piece of every player coming up here on at least two sites in my early lineups, so just because you did not see somebody yet on another site specific slide from earlier, he could be coming up right now.

Early Slate:
SS – Wilmer Difo – Washington Nationals – ($3,500 DK, $2,100 FD, $6,800 FantasyDraft)
I am going to start the universal value section for the early slate with a bit of a warning. For the most part, without starting lineups I am in the dark as far as value goes, so I have to lean on guys I know will start, and that fact along with cheap pricing across the board keeps me landing on Difo.
He isn’t much of a hitter, and not an everyday type player, but Difo is serviceable and will be forced to play until Turner can return from his broken finger. He has hit safely in three straight games, and is at least scoring fantasy points on a daily basis. You could do worse.
OF – Melky Cabrera – Pittsburgh Pirates – ($3,800 DK, $2,800 FD, $7,700 FantasyDraft)
The price is getting up there on Fantasy Draft, and since we have no early slate on Yahoo, I decided to hone in on the Melk Man, as he seems to be a good fit on both DK and FD. I haven’t sorted through lineups just yet and decided what I want to do with my pitching, but if I need an extra value play, I will likely give Cabrera a closer look.
He got a day off yesterday although he did pinch-hit, which followed a 3-for-3 day at the plate on Thursday. Although he is hitting .400 in the early goings, he has just one extra-base hit which was a double, and isn’t much of a power threat. The Pirates will face veteran Tanner Roark, so they look to be in a favorable spot in this one.
Main Slate:
SP – Kyle Wright – Atlanta Braves – ($7,300 DK, $6,100 FD, $29 Y!, $14,400 FantasyDraft)
David Price and Sonny Gray in the past, Walker Buehler and Kyle Wright more recently, Vanderbilt is always producing top major-league caliber pitching. Wright took the fast track to the pros with the Braves having limited options, but he certainly has the skills to succeed.
The fifth overall pick in the 2017 draft, Wright was a strikeout per inning guy across AA and AAA last season, and impressed enough in the Spring to earn a spot in this rotation. He was tasked with facing one of the best offenses in the league in the Phillies, now he gets a chance to bounce back at home, against a much lesser opponent in the Marlins. I am comfortable using Wright everywhere tonight on this six-game slate, and he is my overall favorite GPP play.
2B/SS/OF – Hernan Perez – Milwaukee Brewers – ($3,900 DK, $2,000 FD, $7 Y!, $7,400 FantasyDraft)
As I was checking his price tonight, (last night) he hits a bomb at like 2%. Perez is always a guy I look to if he cracks the Brewers lineup, and he usually does when they are facing left-handed pitching. They could look to get Travis Shaw back in the lineup even though they face another lefty in Cole Hamels tonight, so make sure to confirm this lineup before locking him in. Perez finished 2-for-5 last night and cleared 20 fantasy points on DK and FD.
That is all for today’s edition of MLB DFS Top Value Plays. I hope you like the format, as I think this is the best way to talk about which value bats and pitchers to consider, no matter what site you play on.
