NXT Takeover: New York recap — Be still, our Rebel Hearts

WALTER defeats Pete Dunne to become the new NXT United Kingdom Champion
If you like stiff, hard-hitting wrestling matches, then this was your favorite match of the night. WALTER and Pete Dunne went to war, the crowd loving every minute of it. But when it was all said and done, the Bruiserweight’s historic 685-day reign as champion came to an end.
The finish came with an absolutely brutal powerbomb from WALTER off the top rope followed by another trip to the top rope for a flying splash to put away Dunne and end his title reign. This didn’t come as much of a shock to anyone. Dunne’s extra-long reign and the formidable nature of WALTER seemed to point to Dunne dropping the strap at such a major event.
Where does Dunne go from here? Perhaps a main roster call-up is in the cards, but the Bruiserweight but does seem like he has unfinished business with WALTER. We should get a better picture over the next few days; if Dunne doesn’t show up on Raw or SmackDown Live either this week or during the following week’s Superstar Shakeup, we can wager a bet that Dunne versus WALTER II will be coming sooner rather than later.
But if Dunne does move on, where does that leave the new champion? WALTER has run over the NXT UK roster since showing up several months ago. If he could defeat the unbeatable champion, who else would dare step up to try and challenge the Ring General? Maybe Jordan Devlin, who felt he was the one who deserved this title shot against Dunne, to begin with.
