WWE legend Bret Hart was rushed and tackled by a crazy fan in the middle of his long-awaited Hall of Fame speech.

Bret Hart’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame was a messy thing, to begin with, so go figure it actually got ugly when it happened.

It wasn’t Vince McMahon stepping on Hart’s moment of glory (again), rather it was a psychotic fan who decided to rush the stage while Hitman was giving his speech. It was sick, it was disgusting, and it was yet another misfire in Hart’s legendary career.

Here’s footage of the tackle:

This is tragic beyond just the tackle. Hart’s career in WWE was defined by things almost going right and then going horribly wrong. Getting rushed by a bum fan during what should have been his crowning achievement is icing on the cake.

Back in 1997, Hart was set to become WWF champion but months of actual fighting behind the scenes with challenger Shawn Michaels — as well with McMahon — culminated in an unscripted change of plans that saw Michaels win the belt instead. It remains one of the most controversial moments in WWE history and tore open a wound for Hart that never fully healed.

Two years later, Hart’s brother Owen died performing a dangerous stunt after his harness malfunctioned while he was being lowered in from the rafters of Kemper Arena. Bret went to the mat in interviews saying that Owen was forced to perform the stunt against despite pleas not. McMahon not only denied this but used Owen’s death against Bret in subsequent interviews.

It seemed like Hart and WWE would never come back together in any capacity, let alone to have McMahon honor a man he went to war with for the better part of two decades. The fact that the moment of resolution was marred by some dope rushing the stage and ruining Hart’s moment is a coda to his career no one wanted.

Bret Hart deserves better, and always will.
