Masters 2019 favorites, odds: Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods atop board
Before you place your bets or set DFS lineups for the 2019 Masters, check out the odds and what SportsLine’s prediction model says for the tournament.
The 2019 edition of The Masters will tee off next Thursday, April 11, as the one pro golf major that’s held at one site every year stands as a sign of spring. Past champions like Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson will be in the field, along with big names who have yet to win a green jacket (Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy).
SportLine’s prediction model, created by DFS pro Mike McClure, has hit on four of the past eight major champions, including last year’s Masters winner Patrick Reed. Reed will attempt to become the first repeat champion since Woods in 2001 and 2002.
For the 2019 Masters, SportsLine has simulated the event 10,000 times. Woods is one of the top Vegas favorites, at 14-1, but the simulation model has him finishing outside the top-10. On the other hand Brooks Koepka, sitting at 18-1 odds, is projected to have a strong chance to go home with a green jacket.
Here’s a list of the top 2019 Masters favorites.
Rory McIlroy 8-1
Dustin Johnson 10-1
Justin Rose 12-1
Tiger Woods 14-1
Justin Thomas 14-1
Jon Rahm 16-1
Brooks Koepka 18-1
Rickie Fowler 18-1
Jordan Spieth 20-1
Tommy Fleetwood 20-1
Bryson DeChambeau 20-1
Bubba Watson 25-1
Jason Day 25-1
Paul Casey 30-1
Francesco Molinari 30-1
Tony Finau 30-1
Patrick Reed 40-1
At 40-1, Reed is an interesting longshot bet to repeat. McIlroy is an easy betting favorite, coming off finishing tied for fifth last year and with a run of five straight top-10 finishes at Augusta. Last year’s runner-up, Rickie Fowler, is also an enticing bet at 18-1. He has finished tied for 12th or better in four the last five Masters.
The Masters has a reservoir of past champions who have never really been heard from again (Mike Weir, Trevor Immelman, Charl Schwartzel, Danny Willett). But a smart bettor or DFS player won’t get too cute, outside of a big-time flier, with the 2019 Masters winner a good bet to come from among those with 40-1 odds or better.
