MLB Bets To Win – Sunday April 7 – Tigers Sweep!
By John Fazio
Greetings from MLB Bets To Win Central. We’ve got some great Sunday games on tap.
On Saturday MLB bets won again, this time 1.06 units. Using 1 unit per bet as a base, taking into account the lay and take, on the season MLB Bets is now up 14.17 units.
Minnesota (+1.12) glides past Philadelphia, 1:05 pm
The Twins surprised the Phillies yesterday. MLB Bets says they will do it again today, but not for the reasons you might think.
This is one of those statistical anomalies that don’t happen very often, but are significant in that they predict an outcome completely contrary to all logic. In short, it’s when all the stats line up solidly on one side but the line is very low and being bet lower.
Such is the case with Philly today. All the stats favor the Phillies.
The Twins send Jose Berrios (R) to the mound. Last time out he threw 7 innings allowing 3 earned runs. Not bad, but Minnesota is 2-15 when Berrios starts on the road against a good team.
Philly starts Zach Eflin (R), who pitched great on the road in his last appearance, pitching 5 scoreless innings and striking out 9 batters. Very impressive. Pitching advantage to the Phillies.
Yesterday broke a 7 game losing streak the Twins had in away interleague games. They are now 1-7. Meanwhile the Phillies are playing great and so have almost all the trends on their side, including home dominance, being great against right handers, and many more.
Yet the line opened Philadelphia -1.30 and has dropped to -1.24. First of all, the opening line seems low – maybe way to low the way Zach Eflin is pitching. Secondly, the line is moving lower.
Going back in the MLB Bets database, when this occurs the seemingly overmatched team has won 61% of the time while also receiving plus juice. That is enough for a play today on Minnesota.
MLB Bets To Win – Tigers Sweep Royals
Detroit (-1.08) overwhelms Kansas City, 1:10 pm
The Tigers have managed to control this series fairly well. Coming from behind in both games and holding the lead has led them to the edge of a sweep.
The Royals send Brad Keller (R) to the mound. He threw 6 complete innings allowing 3 earned runs last start. Tyson Ross (R) goes for Detroit after pitching 5 innings giving up 3 runs, 2 earned on the road. The mound advantage stays with the Tigers.
Going back to last season KC is 11-42 against a team holding a winning record. This season they are fading fast as well. Detroit is 4-1 in their last 5 games when facing a right-handed starting pitcher.
Miami (+1.50) subdues Atlanta, 1:20 pm
The Marlins won yesterday as a decent size dog. They are projected to do the same thing today.
Miami sends Caleb Smith (L) to the hill after completing 5 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 8 batters. Sean Newcomb (L) performed very well himself throwing 4 shutout innings for Atlanta.
The Braves are getting 75% of the early action as of this overnight writing mainly due to the perceived weakness placed on Miami. MLB Bets believes this is overdone and for today these 2 teams are much closer to a pick than what the current line indicates.
Miami is 5-1 in Caleb Smith’s last 6 road starts. Atlanta meanwhile is 1-5 at home against left-handed starters and are 1-5 against the National League East.
San Diego (+1.11) sweeps St Louis, 2:15 pm
The Padres are on a roll, now a completely different team with a new winning attitude that needs to be addressed by bettors. The Padres cannot be considered an easy go-against at least for now. Already winning 2 games in St Louis says a lot.
Matt Strahm (L) gets the nod for San Diego after being shelled last time out. Adam Wainwright (R) faces the same situation for the Cardinals as he was blasted for 4 runs in 4 innings in his recent start.
San Diego is 4-1 in away games against a right hander while St Louis is 1-4 versus a left-handed starter. The Cardinals have dropped their last 4 home games overall, but they are still receiving the majority of public money. This team strength perception allows the linesmaker to keep St Louis on top when really San Diego should be favored today.
MLB bets To Win – Can it be? Red Sox projected to lose again
Arizona (no line posted yet) sails by Boston. 4:10 pm
The Diamondbacks are in position to sweep Boston, sustaining this unbelievably bad start to the season. Not only is Boston 2-8, they have a negative run differential of 27 which is by far the worst of all. The next worst is Colorado with -17 followed by Cincinnati at minus eleven.

In every game the public has backed Boston with a majority of bets, refusing to accept the current reality. Maybe things will get better when they finally play a game at home. Maybe they will start winning today. Maybe not.
Boston has yet to confirm a starting pitcher but it may be Hector Velazquez. He has appeared in 3 games as a reliever posting a 4.76 ERA. In spring training as a starter he generated a 7.94 ERA.
Arizona goes with Merrill Kelly (R) who tossed 6 innings allowing 3 runs at San Diego in his first start. In any case the pitching advantage stays with Arizona.
The Diamondbacks are 15-6 in interleague home games including 6-1 at home against teams with losing records. MLB Bets wants to ride this trend looking for 1 more day that the Red Sox lose.
Recap For Sunday April 7th:
Minnesota +1.12
Detroit -1.08
Miami +1.50
San Diego +1.11
Arizona no line yet
This season has been wacky especially in the American League. However there is no guarantee teams will return to ‘how they are supposed to’ be playing. Perceived team strength is just that – imaginary.
These preseason front-runners need to prove their worth on the field before MLB Bets will stop betting against them. The Yankees and Astros seem to be waking up. Not yet so the Red Sox.
Enjoy your Sunday and see you here tomorrow.
Best of luck and continued success from MLB Bets
