1. In win-now mode (discussed here), the Chiefs need a veteran pass rusher to solidify the defensive line. McCoy being available makes that possible. Putting McCoy next to Chris Jones provides a formidable presence. Veterans over rookies for win-now teams.

2. Kansas City likely thinks that it has solved the defensive line problems with additions of Emmanuel Ogbah and Alex Okafor. The Chiefs view this as an unnecessary risk and refuse to part with a quality pick. Tampa Bay will keep shopping McCoy.

Miami trades pick #13 and #79 to Buffalo for pick #9.

1. Miami needs to adopt the John Elway strategy of drafting quarterbacks until they find the right guy. Ironically, here they trade ahead of the Broncos to grab the third best quarterback prospect in the draft, despite all of the reasons that Lock shouldn’t be a top 10 pick. Buffalo also get an extra asset, to keep building their lines.

2. I don’t think Miami has the same urgency to find a quarterback as the rest of us think they should. I also think that given the nature of the league, its possible that someone outbids the nine pick for Lock. Either way – I don’t see this happening.
