Fantasy Baseball Pitching – Streaming Options for April 9
By Bill Pivetz
The streaming options for April 9 come with some risk but could lead to some big rewards for your fantasy baseball team.
If you are looking to stream a starting pitcher for April 9, there are a few good options available to you. Some of the players come with inherent risk but they could lead to a surprising outing at the end of the day. Whether it’s DFS or season-long fantasy baseball, streaming starting pitchers has its benefits.
As per the usual, the pitchers listed will be owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. We all know about the top starting pitchers. Finding the diamonds in the rough is where you can win your head-to-head matchup or some money.
All but two teams play on April 9 so you should have no trouble finding a pitcher you like with a good matchup. Here are my three streaming options for these games.

Mike Minor, @ARI
Minor’s first start of the season was a bit rough but he bounced back for seven shutout innings against the Houston Astros.
Making his next start in Arizona will help the chance of another good start. The Diamondbacks are hitting .288 with 61 runs scored in 10 games this season. The humidor hasn’t affected the offense much so far, but that can change.
Minor has some control issues, 10:4 K:BB ratio with 10 hits allowed but he should be good enough to earn a quality start.
Jose Urena, @CIN
Urena’s first two starts of the season are a good enough reason to avoid using him in this game. He has a 10.38 ERA, 2.08 WHIP, 10 earned runs, six strikeouts and two walks. Now, he goes into a hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark.
However, the Reds are hitting .170 with 21 runs scored this season, both worst in the league. They have a .160 average and three home runs at home. If Urena can get back on track, this would be the game to do it.
Ervin Santana, vs TB
Santana will join the White Sox rotation and make his first start to the season. He faces the red-hot Rays. They are hitting .281 in four road games with 17 runs scored, 4.25 runs per game.
The White Sox offense is averaging just under five runs per game. If Santana can hold the Rays down for five or six innings and the offense scores enough, he could earn his first win since September 23, 2017.
Honorable Mention: Jordan Zimmermann, Brett Anderson, Derek Holland
All three of these pitchers have their own issues but the matchups outweigh the faults. Poor offenses and pitcher-friendly parks give the possibility of a good outing. Their prices in DFS should be cheap that you can stack an ace or a few good hitters.
