The Champions League quarterfinals kick off on Tuesday with Liverpool hosting Porto at Anfield. Liverpool are first in the Premier League and eliminated Bayern Munich in the round of 16. Porto are tied for first in their domestic league and are in the quarterfinal for the first time since 2015.
Liverpool completely outclassed Bayern Munich in the round of 16. Over their last 14 games, the Reds are unbeaten. Given their form and superior talent, the Reds enter the first leg as heavy favorites to reach the semifinal for the second straight season. A season ago, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamad Salah each scored at least 10 goals to help Liverpool reach the final. This season, the trio will be expected to carry the attack for Liverpool. At the back, Virgil van Dijk will clean up any mistakes in front of the goal.
Porto needed extra time to advance to the quarterfinal, beating Roma 3-1 in the second leg. Domestically, Porto have won six of their last seven games. While Porto are large underdogs, upsets do happen in the Champions League. The Dragons attack will be lead by Tiquinho Soares and Moussa Marega, who have combined for 37 goals in all competitions. At the back, the game will serve as a large test for Eder Militao. The 21-year-old center-back will join Real Madrid in the summer after the Spanish giants agreed to pay €50 million for the Brazilian.
