When you win your first national championship, fans are going to celebrate in a big way.

The Virginia Cavaliers are the national champions and fans didn’t waste one second to begin celebrating. Virginia won their first national title after defeating Texas Tech in an overtime instant classic where they went on a big run to finish off the Red Raiders.

This celebration was in the making for more than a year and Cavs fans won’t be getting much sleep tonight as they celebrate all over campus.

The party is already underway as the video below from the March Madness Twitter account shared in the moments after the final buzzer sounded from U.S. Bank Stadium.

Imagine how awesome it would be to be a Virginia student at this moment. Your school just won its first national title and it comes one year after the basketball team fell to No. 16 UMBC. This redemption tour is easily one of the best one-year makeovers in college basketball history.

They weren’t a team of destiny. They were just the best team and were fueled by the upset last year to persevere to the ultimate glory on Monday night.

Now those memories have been replaced by the confetti falling on the heads of coach Tony Bennett, De’Andre Hunter, Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome and the rest of the Virginia team. The vision of seeing them cut down the nets and celebrating together on the court and in the locker room will never be forgotten.

For the students celebrating right now, this is as good as it gets, and don’t worry about coming to your classes Tuesday morning. You’re excused.
