The New York Giants picked up a second first round pick last month, as they traded away star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. Based on the fact that the Browns were actually a decent football team in 2018, the Browns pick is a lot later than usual, as the Giants will pick for the second time at No. 17 overall.
With this pick, the Giants need to continue to add to the offensive line, and Cody Ford is a good looking prospect from Oklahoma. Ford has the ability to play all over the offensive line, and on this Giants roster, they need as much talent up front as they can get when it comes to the 2019 NFL Draft.
The loss of OBJ on this offense is a big one, but the Giants do have one of the better running backs in all of football in the person of Saquon Barkley. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Barkley is a guy who should consistently run for over 1,000 yards during his career, and Ford could be a nice piece in front of him for years to come.
Eli Manning is getting up there in age, and he is no good when the pressure is in his face. If the Giants want to have any success next season, they have to keep Eli upright, so it makes a lot of sense that they would invest a first round pick on the offensive line, which needs to be much better in 2019.
