Ajax face Juventus at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday, April 10. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

While all four of this season’s quarterfinals feature clear favorites, this is the one tie in which there’s a very obvious candidate for neutrals to root for. And that was the case even before the widespread dismay at recent comments by Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci, in which he stated that his teammate Moise Kean was to some degree culpable for the racist abuse that he’d been subjected to while playing Cagliari in Serie A. There was also a considerable amount of discomfort at the very different ways in which Juventus have responded to the bigotry facing Kean and the criminal investigation facing fellow Juve star Cristiano Ronaldo.

So very few people outside of the Juve faithful or fans of PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord will be rooting for Massimiliano Allegri’s side. This youthful Ajax team have already made themselves part of folklore in the previous round with that joyful 1-4 away victory to end Real Madrid’s Champions League hegemony. To beat Juventus as well would be the stuff of legend.

The narrative here is much the same as for the clash with Madrid: bright, young Ajax pitted against the cynical, grizzled veterans of Juventus. Most viewers will be hoping that history repeats itself.
