The Birmingham Barons put a great twist on doing the wave, Joe Pavelski scores a goal with his face and how dare anyone say coffee is not essential to life.
Doing the wave at sporting events should be against the law, but the new tradition started by the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox double-A affiliate, of waving to Children’s of Alabama hospital during the 7th inning stretch is the best new tradition in sports. The practice began on Wednesday night and it’s the best thing you’ll see all day. Grab a tissue and watch.
How cool is this?

Starting tonight, instead of a 7th Inning stretch, the @BhamBarons now do a 7th Inning Wave, where fans wave to the patients at the Children's Hospital of Alabama out in right field. pic.twitter.com/710D58DLXh
This wave tradition is borrowed from the University of Iowa where fans at football games began waving at the Stead Family Hospital overlooking Kinnick Stadium two years ago.
Joe Pavelski scores with his face
The NHL playoffs began Wednesday night, and if you didn’t know, it’s not your fault because no other sports outlet bothers giving the sport any mention. But the playoffs are now underway and it wouldn’t be the NHL postseason without some chicklets hitting the ice. Sharks forward Joe Pavelski redirected a slapshot with his face and scored the game’s first goal. His teeth did not get credit for the assist.

Coffee not essential for human survival?!
Switzerland is getting rid of its national stockpile of emergency coffee after ruling the beans are not vital for human survival. First of all, how dare you. Second of all, stay out of this Switzerland. The one thing you’re good for is being neutral and you just made an enemy out of the coffee-drinking community.
