A four-hour Disney investor presentation revealed more details about Disney+ including launch date, pricing, programming and The Simpsons.

Disney revealed key details about Disney+ on Thursday afternoon, including the official launch date, cost and initial programming that will be available from the outset on the media giant’s new platform.

With this new information it is undeniable that the Disney+ streaming video on demand service is ready to compete from launch with lots of original and exclusive content.

Disney+ launches Nov. 12 and will be available for $6.99/month or $69.99/year. That’s an incredible value consider that Disney+ will be the home of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and Fox content.

The SVOD service has been designed for international distribution, with plans to debut in North America and other markets worldwide in early 2020.

One of the biggest pieces of news coming out of the presentation is that the entirety of The Simpsons library will be available to stream on Day One.

While Disney could have unloaded the lucrative animated series the decision to keep it and stream it on their own SVOD service means that the property will never end up on Netflix. At the end of the day this will net Disney a fortune.

Unlike other services, Disney+ will come fully loaded from the launch date.

All of the Star Wars movies will be available from the start, along with select Marvel movies including Black Panther and Captain Marvel, a huge selection from the Disney Channel Original Movies and animated features vault and all 660+ episodes of The Simpsons.

There will also be content from National Geographic and over a dozen Pixar films. More content will be added on a regular basis.

The arrival of Disney+ means that none of the Disney-owned properties will ever debut on Netflix.

Disney will lose $150 million in Netflix licensing fees, but this will be a drop in the bucket in order to force fans to subscribe to Disney+ in order to access the entire library of Star Wars, Marvel and other Disney movies and shows.

Current Netflix pricing starts at $8.99/month and DC Universe is $7.99/month, so that makes Disney+ a better value already.

There will also be pricing plans that combine ESPN+ and Hulu packages, and with all of this original and exclusive content there’s no question that Disney+ is positioning itself to be the ultimate destination for cord cutters.
