2019 NFL Draft: 5 players Seahawks could take in Round 1
2. Andre Dillard
Murphy isn’t the only in-state prospect who could interest the Seahawks in Round 1. Seattle could easily look to Washington State to find their left tackle of the future.
Dillard isn’t an intimidating run blocker, but there isn’t a better pure pass blocker in this class. He’ll need to adjust his footwork some after leaving Mike Leach’s innovative offense, but his quick feet and arm length are tailor-made to protect Wilson’s blind side.
Draft experts are really split on where Dillard might be selected. Some see him rising into the top 15. It’s rare for the best pure left tackle in the draft to fall any further than that. However, Dillard isn’t a dominating prospect. His lack of a mean streak might allow him to fall into Seattle’s lap.
The biggest question the Seahawks need to ask about Dillard is whether or not they’re willing to spend a precious first round pick on a player who should just be a back up in 2019. The front office will prioritize Dillard’s potential long-term value or the team’s short-term needs. Dillard has a strong chance of staying in Washington to start his NFL career.
