Steelers’ players begging for Antonio Brown, others to quiet down
After a wild offseason that has seen Antonio Brown feud with various former teammates on social media, two key members of the Pittsburgh Steelers want to put a stop to the Twitter wars.
In a saga that has taken on WWE-like proportions, Antonio Brown’s Twitter feuds with former Steelers’ teammates are getting out of control. Brown made headlines last week for his exchanges with Juju Smith-Schuster, and former Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall came in from the top rope yesterday, calling Ben Roethlisberger a racist and saying Brown was supposed to “take his lickings and move on, like a slave for real.”
That last tweet may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Steelers’ offensive lineman Ramon Foster, who took to Twitter today to lay down the gauntlet for any disgruntled Steelers.
In essence, Foster has decided that he and Maurkice Pouncey will be the adults in the room, offering to serve as mediators in any personal squabbles between current and ex-Steelers. By promoting this form of conflict resolution, Foster is making it clear he wants to keep any of the Steelers’ personal problems in-house and off of social media, where the world can have a field day with Pittsburgh’s dysfunction.
The fact we have gotten here with the Steelers, who many consider to be one of the NFL’s model franchises, is shocking. With coach Mike Tomlin remaining virtually invisible in this situation, it has come down to respected veterans like Foster and Pouncey to try and restore law and order in the locker room.

At the end of the day, this kind of nonsense is a completely unnecessary distraction for a team looking to get back to the playoffs in 2019. Foster is right to call for an end to the child-like bickering and feuding on social media, and Steelers’ fans have to hope that this new approach stops the madness in Pittsburgh.
