ROH TV episode 395 preview and predictions: G1 Supercard fallout

What’s next for Ring of Honor after the G1 Supercard with New Japan Pro Wrestling at Madison Square Garden.

This week’s episode of Ring of Honor TV plants the seeds for fresh matchups and new feuds as well new directions for many members of the roster following the company’s Supercard show with New Japan.

Confrontation could be in the future for the viewers’ pleasure, with many new champions and bitter former champions all under the same roof. The announced match for this week will pit one of ROH’s new champions against a team that has been no stranger to holding ROH gold.

This week will feature former Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions The Briscoes vs. Jeff Cobb and Will Mack. This is an interesting matchup as we get to see ROH Television Champion Cobb teaming up with an NWA champion in Willie Mack. The brothers from Sussex County will have no problem teaming together as opposed to the fresh pairing of Cobb and Mack who might need some time out of the gate to get used to each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Expect suplexes, suplexes and more suplexes from Cobb as his offense is geared around showing off his tremendous strength. The winners of this match might be able to parlay it into challenging for the ROH Tag Team Championship which would be a nice addition to the collection of belts that Cobb is amassing.

How To Watch:

There’s no use in ignoring the elephant in the room.

As far as we are aware, the incident that happened after the Tag Team Championship match, where former WWE Superstars Big Cass and Enzo Amore jumped the guardrail and attacked the Guerrillas of Destiny and The Briscoes, was a worked shoot. In layman’s terms, it was part of the show though it seemed like Ring of Honor went out of their way to make it feel as real as possible. Enzo and Cass were not brought up on commentary and the cameras tried to avoid catching the two invaders on the livestream.

But once the ROH Twitter retweeted a fan video of the attack, most fans figured out that the incident was planned. Cass and Enzo — or, rather, nZo and CazXL — seem to be heading to ROH and entering the tag division, which should create some interesting and downright surreal matchups.

But that’s not the only thing that is causing chaos in the tag division as ROH has new champions.

The Guerrillas Of Destiny (also known as GOD), beat The Briscoes, Los Ingobernables De Japon and Villain Enterprises to lay claim to the ROH tag team titles. Immediately the titles were disrespected as a video surfaced of Tama Tonga, a member of GOD, throwing his title belt across the backstage area. Will ROH react well to their belts being disrespected by their own champions, or is this another work?

Some people may have missed this, as it was on the MSG pre-show, but Kenny King now has a title shot. King looks to be the next challenger to Matt Taven’s newly-won Ring Of Honor Championship as he was the winner of the 30-man Honor Rumble, which guarantees him a title opportunity. King took the long and hard road to the contendership as he voluntarily enter the Honor Rumble in the No. 1 spot. Though he won, King hasn’t exactly endeared himself with the fans due to the fact he last eliminated Japanese legends, The Great Muta and Justin “Thunder” Liger, to win the Rumble. All that’s left to see is if King is the first challenger to Taven’s title or if former champion Jay Lethal or fan-favorite Marty Scurll try and jump him to the front of the line.

It really happened.

Taven came out victorious in his ladder match, against Scurll and Lethal, to win the Ring Of Honor Championship. The writing has been on the wall for quite some time regarding Taven eventually winning the belt. When he came back from a slight absence, due to his working with CMLL in Mexico, and he had his own tricked-out version of the ROH belt made as a way to put himself in the championship picture. King seems to likely be Taven’s next challenger so don’t be surprised if we see a promo from Taven attempting to knock King off his game. Taven has a list of challengers lining up to take a crack at him but with The Kingdom behind him and his pension to cheat, could we might be looking at Taven as the ROH Champion for quite some time?
