The big question going into this game is just how many players Ernesto Valverde will rest ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League second leg against Manchester United at the Camp Nou. Indeed, given Barcelona’s often lethargic and sloppy play during the opening hour of the first leg, it could well be that some big names aren’t even included in the matchday squad at all.
In their debut La Liga campaign, Huesca are currently bottom of the table, where they’ve been for much of the season. Given the club’s limited resources, though — their ground holds fewer than 8,000 spectators — it’s quite an achievement for them to still have a chance of survival this late in the day.
Their fortunes have improved a little since Leo Franco was replaced by Francisco in October, after he’d won only once at a points-per-game average of 0.625 in the opening eight matches of the season. They’ve earned four more victories under Francisco, which have seen Huesca’s per-match return rise to 0.826. That’s still relegation form, however, and they’re presently six points from safety with seven games to play.
