Good day from MLB Bets central.  We’ve got some good opportunities today so let’s get to it.

Using 1 unit per play as a base, then allowing for the lay and take, yesterday MLB Bets was exactly even with the season remaining up 14.86 units.

Today we will focus on the trends and surprises from yesterday, factor in the starting pitchers, and try to get you some winners.  So here we go, all times Eastern:

White Sox  (+1.59)  cover the Yankees, 1:15 pm
Taking the Sox here makes about as much sense as taking them yesterday – none.  But they won.  Why try to fight it?

Today Ivan Nova (R) goes for Chicago.  Last time out at home he was shelled, but the previous start at Cleveland he went 7 innings allowing only 1 run.  He can be really bad, but he can also be great.  That’s what you want from a big dog – a 50-50 chance at winning.

CC Sabathia (L) gets the nod for New York.  This will be his first appearance of the year.

Interestingly, the White Sox are 6-1 in the last 7 games they have played on the road against a left-handed pitcher.  The Yanks are 1-4 in their last 5 home games, and going back to last season, they are 2-5 when Sabathia has started.  Let’s try Chicago.

Pittsburgh  (+1.10)  subdues Washington, 4:05 pm
The Pirates will attempt to take 2 in a row from the Nationals.  Washington’s lack of scoring will allow them to do it.

Chris Archer (R) goes for Pitt.  His record is 1-0 earning a very good 2.45 ERA.  He will face Max Scherzer (R) who has a good ERA of 3.32 but has a record of 1-2.  Surprisingly Max has not fared well when receiving at least 5 days of rest between starts.

Pittsburgh is now 5-0 against right-handed pitching.  MLB Bets is willing to make them a play, not minding the large percentage of public support being given to Washington.

MLB Bets To Win – Phillies control the Marlins

Philadelphia  (-1.55)  handles Miami, 6:10 pm
Normally MLB Bets does not recommend any wager laying more than -1.40,  however the difference in talent is wide and Philly has a good advantage with the starting pitcher.

More from FanSided

Zach Eflin (R) starts for the Phillies sporting a 0.75 ERA over 2 starts.  He’s opposed by Caleb Smith (L) who has posted a 4.09 ERA.

Most trends favor Philly here as you would expect.  The books are not in the habit of giving money away but this line appears quite low.  Let’s not go crazy on it but the Philadelphia side is worth a normal play laying the expanded juice.

Milwaukee tops Los Angeles, 9:10 pm
As of this overnight writing the Dodger pitcher is still undecided,  but no matter who it is MLB Bets wants to take the Brewers tonight.

Zach Davies (R) takes the hill for Milwaukee posting an excellent ERA of 1.69.  That will be enough to either provide value against a good pitcher or dominate a weak one.

Interestingly the Brewers are 11-4 in away games against teams with a winning record.  Meanwhile the Dodgers are 0-4 against right-handed starters.

For tracking purposes the exact line bet will be put on twitter when it’s available.
