Did the Game of Thrones season 8 premiere crash HBO Go?
Game of Thrones season 8 premiered Sunday night, but was it a good viewing experience for those watching on HBO Go?
Nothing like the return of Game of Thrones to send people flocking to HBO Go/HBO Now to watch the incredibly popular show online. If you didn’t watch one of the television broadcasts, you had to turn to the streaming version, which has been problematic for viewers in the past.
HBO Go has been notorious for crashing during past premieres and finales, leaving Game of Thrones fans irate over missing out on what happens to the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryens and the rest of the gang from Westeros.
Watching on HBO GO/Now is definitely a risk compared to the broadcast, and you have to accept that you’ll be a few minutes behind those watching on TV. That means, you better stay off Twitter and social media if you don’t want any spoilers coming your way before you’ve had a chance to witness it for yourself.
So did the Game of Thrones season 8 premiere crash HBO Go/Now?
Typically, when it has crashed, it crashed during the time of the premiere and for the late broadcasts, it was relatively safe. So if you are in the camp that’ll be watching later in the night or even Monday, you are most likely, in the clear.
And after this happening time and again, you’d think HBO would do everything in their power to make sure their streaming service doesn’t crash during the most important hour of television in the last 20 months.
There were some users who experienced some outages at the beginning of the premiere.

Naturally, this is a quick way to upset fans who have waited 20 months for this episode only to have the app crash just as the episode is to begin. Hopefully, this issue isn’t too widespread and for the users having issues, hopefully, it’ll be up and running ASAP.
