It looks like Fastlane wasn’t The Shield’s last ride as WWE has announced an event for Sunday, April 20 called “The Shield’s Last Chapter”
WWE looks to be dragging out Dean Ambrose’s departure from the company for yet another “final” Shield match as Ambrose will team with Roman Reigns and WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins for what is likely the last time on Sunday, April 20. The show, titled “The Shield’s Last Chapter” will be a WWE Network Exclusive event along the lines of events like “Beast In The East” and it will likely feature several other matches, also announcing that Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor will be in action.
Some fans have speculated that this could all still be storyline but as time goes on it is looking less and less likely that it is scripted. Fans knew Ambrose’s contract ended sometime in April but after Ambrose was left off of the WrestleMania card and took part in what was advertised as his final match on Monday Night Raw the following night, the general consensus was that Ambrose had indeed been taken off of TV for the remainder of his deal. But Ambrose has continued to show up on WWE television and now will get to one more chance to tag with the unit that made his career.
Expect a Shield win and a long and heartfelt sendoff for Ambrose by his Shield brothers and the rest of the roster. Seeing how WWE is marketing this event, the fans in attendance might also be treated to a swan song speech by the “Lunatic Fringe” himself.
No opponents for The Shield have yet to be announced, but the WWE has stated that more information for the event will be released leading up to the event on Sunday.
