2019 RBC Heritage: PGA DraftKings DFS Picks – Masters Hangover
Who are the targets for the 2019 RBC Heritage on DraftKings? Let’s check it out!
Following one of the most memorable golf tournaments in quite some time, we are back to reality. This week, the PGA Tour heads to Harbour Town in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for the RBC Heritage.
Harbour Town is the host to the RBC Heritage. It is a Par 71 stretching just over 7,000 yards and a course that favors the shorter hitters. Key stats that I will be taking a look at are Par 3 Birdie or Better, Greens in Regulation, and Strokes Gained: Approach the Green. It is also worth looking at Par 4 scoring as well, since there are 11 Par 4’s on the card this week.
Here is a spreadsheet of players in the field who excel in the key stats listed above. This is where each player is ranked in the 2019 season up to this point, including the fall finish. The green represents the top-10 in the field, and the yellow is the top-20, and so on.
At first glance, this field is absolutely loaded. There are eight golfers who find themselves ranked inside the OWGR’s top-20 compared to last year’s field which featured four. Being the week after The Masters, we typically don’t see a very strong field, but that is not the case this time around.
Last year’s champion, Satoshi Kodaira, was a DK bargain last year as a top-50 golfer in the world priced at just $6,600. This year, he is $200 cheaper, as he hasn’t shown us much since. There are better options in that range.
Let’s get to the picks.
2019 RBC Heritage: PGA DraftKings DFS Picks
This top range of players who are $10,000+ features three golfers who were inside of the top-5 at The Masters. Just a year ago, we saw just four players above $10,000 with Dustin Johnson being the only player inside the top-10 in the OWGR. This year, DJ is joined by three others (Francesco Molinari, Bryson DeChambeau, and Xander Schauffele) in the OWGR’s top-10.
With so much value down the board further, this is not a range that you need to have tons of exposure to. I’m always a little bit hesitant to roster players who were just in the mix at The Masters. It’s a huge stage and can take a lot out of them. Last year, Paul Casey was the second highest priced player on DraftKings at the RBC Heritage and failed to make the cut.
Matt Kuchar $10,000
If I’m paying up this week, I want to go after Matt Kuchar. He had a good week at The Masters last week, but was never in a prime spot to win it compared to some of the other golfers in this range. Kuchar also knows his way around Harbour Town as good as anyone. He has made 14 straight cuts dating back to 2004. That stretch includes a win in 2014, and four straight top-25’s heading into this year. Kuchar ranks eighth in the field when looking at Par 3 Birdie or Better, and leads the way on tour in Greens in Regulation.
Alternate Option: Bryson DeChambeau ($10,500) 2/3 at the RBC Heritage with two top-5’s. Fell off on weekend at Masters finishing T29. Fourth in the field in Par 3 Birdie or Better.

If you expected this next range to drop off a bit, it’s not going to. When considering the discounts we get in this next range below $10,000, it is a great spot to start your build.
I’d expect Cantlay to be very popular at the top priced at $9,700. He had an outstanding finish at The Masters going -12 on the weekend. Cantlay also has strong outings here at the RBC Heritage with back to back top-10 finishes. Though I’m not going to talk you out of playing him, I will have much exposure to Cantlay at the RBC Heritage this week.
Jordan Spieth $9,500
I may get burned every once in a while, but I’m not missing out on Jordan Spieth. This is a spot where we are not overpaying for him for Spieth, either. We saw flashes of the Spieth we are used to seeing last week at The Masters. He went -8 in the final three rounds finishing T21.
Spieth has not played the RBC Heritage since 2015 where he came T11. Spieth does have a good course history at Harbour Town as he has finished inside of the top-15 in each of his three tries here. He popped once in the key stats as he ranks 7th in the field in Par 3 Birdie or Better this year.
While Jim Furyk is intriguing at $9,400, I just can’t see myself not finding the extra $100 to pay up for Spieth. Furyk has been playing great golf as of late but Spieth is just in another class. He gained confidence last week and is in a range where he is left very affordable.
Alternate Options: Jim Furyk ($9,400) does make a lot of sense. He is inside the top-25 in the field when looking at Greens in Regulation and SG: Around the Green. Winner here in 2015.
Tommy Fleetwood ($9,200) is the same price as we paid last week at The Masters (in a weaker field, obviously). He is making his debut at the RBC Heritage this week and has the game for it, currently ranked 15th on tour in SG: Around the Green. Fleetwood is a nice value at just $9,200 and shouldn’t be too popular.

Six of the ten players in this next range from $8,000-$8,900 played in The Masters last week. One of the bigger price drops from last year to this year is Marc Leishman ($8,000), who is $2,300 cheaper as he was in that $10k+ range. Leishman played the weekend at Augusta but never got much going. His course history at the RBC Heritage is mediocre at best.
Matthew Fitzpatrick $8,500
Starting his week at Augusta with a round one 78, Fitzpatrick bounced back batter than we could ever imagine. Going -11 over the course of the final three rounds, Fitzpatrick finished in a tie for 21st. Being so far behind right off the bat, he played stress free golf for those final three rounds, so I’m not worried about where he is at.
Following missed cuts at the RBC Heritage in 2016-2017, Fitzpatrick finished T14 last year after going -6 on the weekend. Prior to his success last year, he had a T23 back in 2014 as an amateur. Some inconsistency in his course history may scare some away, but he is playing good golf.
Fitzpatrick is 16th in the field in Par 3 Birdie or Better and has strung together some nice finishes as of late. He has made his last four cuts with his best finish being a solo second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in that stretch.
Alternate Option: Jason Kokrak ($8,800) has yet to let us down and rates out well yet again. After a week off, Kokrak should be ready to go with four top-5 finishes in his last five starts on tour. Top-20 in the field in both Par 3 Birdie or Better, and Greens in Regulation.

If you begin your build with a player from each of the previous three ranges, it leaves you right in the middle of this mid-$7,000 range to fill out your team. Expect Justin Harding ($7,900) to carry a high ownership percentage coming off of his outing at The Masters this past week.
Lucas Glover $7,800
With five top-15 finishes in his last six events on tour, Lucas Glover is hard to ignore. To go even further, Glover has made 10 of his last 12 cuts, finishing no worse than T17 when making it through to the weekend. He has made four straight cuts at the RBC Heritage, all of which were inside the top-35.
Glover is sixth in the field in terms of Greens in Regulation, and 14th in SG: Around the Green. Even with this field being stronger than normal, Glover is underpriced here at just $7,800. In comparison to recent events, Glover has been priced at $9,000 or above in each of his last two events (Valero/Valspar). He is the safest play in this range.
Matt Wallace $7,300
Busting some lineups with a missed cut at last week’s Masters, Matt Wallace is most likely off people’s radar. Wallace couldn’t seem to get anything going in his debut at Augusta, but should not be overlooked. Especially when he is priced down in this range.
Wallace is still among the top players in the world and has had great success worldwide over the past 4 months. He ranks 10th in the field in SG: Around the Green and should be considered in this lower $7k range.
Andrew Putnam $7,200
Since his hot start to the year in Hawaii, we haven’t seen Putnam pop up on too many leaderboards. After back to back missed cuts while facing an injury, Putnam bounced back with a T36 two weeks back at the Valero Texas Open
When taking a look at the key stats, Putnam ranks inside the top-20 in both Greens in Regulation, and SG: Approach. He is also inside the fields top-10 in Par 4 Birdie or Better. He is a nice value at just $7,200.
Alternate Option: Russell Knox ($7,700) has made 10 straight cuts with four top-25’s. Has a nice track record at the RBC Heritage making the cut in five consecutive years with four top-20’s (two of which were top-10’s).
2019 RBC Heritage: PGA DraftKings DFS Picks
The value continues into this bottom range, as well. A I mentioned on the first slide, Satoshi Kodaira, last year’s winner, was priced down here. Even with a strong field, many of these top-end players are coming off of a hard fought week at Augusta. Don’t be surprised if players from this range creep their way to the top of the leaderboard this week at the RBC Heritage.

Joel Dahmen $6,900
Gaining a lot of steam over the past month with top-15’s at THE PLAYERS, and Corales, Dahmen finds himself back in this bottom range. He has made four straight cuts and looks to make it five this week at the RBC Heritage. Dahmen ranks 19th in the field in Par 3 Birdie or Better. Put Dahmen and his bucket hat into your cash game lineups!
Cameron Champ $6,500
I really didn’t want to go back here, but Cameron Champ’s name just kept coming up. Returning from an injury that has held him out since THE PLAYERS, Champ returns looking to make his first cut since early February. He leads the field in Par 3 Birdie or Better and ranks fifth in Greens in Regulation.
Troy Merritt $6,200
Making just his fourth start of 2019, Troy Merritt is one of the few who shows up in all three key stat categories. He ranks inside the fields top-20 in Par 3 Birdie or Better, and SG: Approach the Green. He is also 22nd in the field when looking at Greens in Regulation.
Merritt had a solo third finish at the RBC Heritage back in 2015, but missed the cut in his most recent attempt. He should only be considered in tournaments as a low-owned option.
Leaker of the Week: Ray Franz Jr. $6,300
Not sure who allowed Ray Franz Jr to be priced anywhere above the DraftKings minimum, but here we are. Franz’s last stint was on the Web.com Tour back in 2000, where he made just four of 11 cuts. Somehow, he qualified for the RBC Heritage at a qualifier in the Carolinas according to Greg Talbott from WSAV.
Good luck out there, and stay tuned to Fantasy CPR for the PGA picks on all of the other sites for the RBC Heritage!
