College football recruiting predictions for every 2020 5-star recruit
- High School: Lithonia
- Composite Ranking: No. 19, No. 2 OT
- Interested Programs: Georgia, Alabama, Maryland, Tennessee, Clemson
Broderick Jones is from the “city of stone” in Lithonia, but he’s a lot more nimble than stone and can move around with incredible athleticism for his size. The number two tackle on the board is going to wow a lot of people with the way he can move around.
At 6’5″ and 275 pounds, Jones probably has room to add to his frame but he’s still stout nonetheless and has a solid build. He also has a background in playing basketball, which means he’s going to be able to move around just fine.
He’s going to need plenty of time to continue to develop at the position and learn the finer nuances of being a tackle at the next level. Still, it’s not hard to see the untapped potential that exists and think of the player that Jones can become.
The footwork that he possesses in addition to his ability to move around, makes him the second-best tackle available and a surefire five-star recruit. Being from Lithonia, it’s no surprise that Georgia is the heavy favorite to land him.
He’s already issued a commitment to the Bulldogs, which is a strong sign he feels staying at home will allow him the best development possible. With the incredible pass rushers that exist in the SEC, having a stalwart like Jones who can match their speed is an absolute must.
