Best Case Scenario

Point Guard: R.J. Hampton

Shooting Guard: Cassius Stanley

Small Forward: Ochai Ogbaji

Power Forward: Precious Achiuwa

Center: Udoka Azubuike

The cupboard may look pretty empty at Kansas right now, but the good news is that all of these departures open up a ton of scholarships for Bill Self to play with. The Jayhawks only have two unrated recruits committed to the program for next season, but that could change quickly in the coming weeks.

Dotson still has a good shot at returning to school, but even if he doesn’t the Jayhawks could be a significant factor for reclassifying point guard R.J. Hampton. Hampton, who was expected to go to Duke before Tre Jones returned for his sophomore season, has a few elite programs on his list of schools but his clearest path to playing time is in Kansas.

There are a few significant top recruits with Kansas on the list, and we have them ending up with two more here in shooting guard Cassius Stanley and big man Precious Achiuwa. Both would end up as instant starters for Kansas, giving Self two potential one-and-dones with immense talent to open up the Kansas offense.

Since this is the best-case plan, we’ll also have Dotson coming off the bench as a sophomore, serving as the sixth man and teaming with returning Marcus Garrett to give Kansas elite guard play. That can be a significant key to victory in the NCAA Tournament as we witnessed with Auburn and Virginia this season.
